Opening event – Lecture from our Keynote speaker, Christa Sadler, 7pm UT time, 6pm AZ
Christa Sadler was trained as a paleontologist at the University of California, Berkeley, and completed her master’s degree in Earth Sciences at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. She has worked from the Pliocene to the Cambrian throughout the western United States and in Mongolia. She is also an instructor for the Grand Canyon Association Field Institute and runs This Earth, a business that brings earth science programs to children around the United States.

April 2014 National Geographic Magazine - Digging Utah's Dinosaurs featuring our 2013 Festival Key Note Speaker Dr. Joseph Sertich.
Located in the high desert of scenic Southern Utah, Big Water is bordered by Lake Powell, the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. Situated on Highway 89, 60 miles east of Kanab, UT, and 20 miles west of Page, AZ and Lake Powell. The Dinosaur Festival will be surrounding the Big Water Town Hall and Fire Station at 60 Aaron Burr, just off Hwy 89 on September 16th,17th, &18th 2016.
The Big Water Dinosaur Festival is a celebration of the many past and ongoing dinosaur fossil discoveries in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and the region. The festival will have arts, crafts, food, and entertainment. There will be tons of kids’ activities: including the BLM Dinosaur Murder Mystery, many miscellaneous dinosaur games and the “Funtime Inflatables” bounce house, giant slide, etc. There will be live music throughout the fair.
November 7, 2013: A new dinosaur from our back yard in the Grand Staircase Monument makes the news! Video features Dr. Alan Titus and Dr. Joe Sertich, both of whom volunteered to help make our 2013 Dinosaur Festival a huge hit!

A big shout out to the Big Water Dinosaur Festival Committee, Volunteers and Donors who have all worked to make the Festival a success in recent years. The Committee consisting of Jennie Lassen, Heather Rankin, Ashley Rankin, Deborah Short, Naomi Short Lynn, and Jenni Johnson are hard at work on the 2016 festival.
